No its far from appropriate. I didn't start reading cosmo until I was 17 and my mother didn't allow a subscription until I was 18, even then my father wasn't happy. They have a younger version of the magazine, get that for her. She should be reading something like teen people, or seventeen, or cosmo girl. Not a magazine where the cover article is Sex Tips from Men: What they really want in bed. Teens grow up so fast, a subscription to a magazine like that will only speed things up.

Hmm, I think you have a consensus here. Maybe one of the "Teen" versions of Cosmo or other women's mags is a little better, less explicitly concerning sex and "pleasing your man", but I'd even say that the teen versions aren't the best role models for young women. Personally, as a woman, I know that women think about more than just makeup, clothes, and sex. I'd opt for a magazine that speaks to her particular interests, like sports or computers or whatever it may be. If there's nothing in particular that she seems interested in, magazines like Teen Voices have interesting and thought-provoking content, not just crappy hidden adverts. BORING. My fave is Bust, but I'm a few years older than 14....

No. No. and No. It is the young 20 yr olds guide to sex, fashion, and everything in between. It is nothing a 14 yr old should be looking at or getting advice from yet. You should go for Cosmogirl. It is the younger verison of Cosmo but for preteens. This would be your best bet. Another good teen magazine is Seventeen. I loved that one when I was a young teen. Hope this helps.

Cosmopolitan magazine is more appropriate for 18 yrs. old and up (college age) as its focus is on adult relationships including sex.

Cosmo Girl! would be more appropriate and is considered a bit more hip and cool than Seventeen, which is also appropriate.

I am sure you know your neice well enough to choose what is best for her and that she will appreciate your gift.
