The film Let him have it was about Derek Bentley, who was hanged for the murder, in 1950, of a policeman and did indeed have a mental age of about 11 years, he drifted into crime to compete with his peers.
The last hanging in England took place at Walton and Strangeways prisons simultaneously on 13th August 1964 where Peter Anthony Allen and Gwynne Owen Evans were hanged for the murder of John Allen West by Harry Allen (Walton) and Albert Pierpoint ( Strangeways)

i dunno, but i remember the movie with martin sheen in it about the last man killed by the US army for desertion....the name escapes me but martin sheen is one hell of an actor
