The Film "The Golden Compass" is based on the book northern lights...? |
But i have recently seen a triolgy with the first book called "The Golden Compass" if i wish to buy the book coressponding to the film should i buy this book the golden compass as i would like to know whether or not it is the book for the film>>> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385752/ the book and film you mentio are all the one includind nothern lights!! Same thing - just different title. the book is part of a trilogy called his dark materials, northern lights being book 1, which the film is based on (it was renamed the golden compass as it was feared the american audience may not have heard of the northern lights), then the subtle knife, then the amber spyglass, read the books and forget the film, its fine but it doesnt capture the spirit of the characters or the story like the books do. The books are my all time favourites Yeah they changed the title for the film - its a trilogy of books - not sure if they will be filming them or not but - exactly the same story Yes it麓s the same. I listend to the audio book and it was really good. 'Northern Lights' is the first book of the 'His dark Materials' trilogy by British author Philip Pullman. The book's American counterpart title was altered to 'The Golden Compass' and the film, I believe, may have also been American and therefore used the American title instead. Similar to 'Harry Potter in the Philosophers Stone' (the British book title) being 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone' in America. The content of the book hasn't changed, they've simply produced one with a new cover to cash in on the popularity of the film. Just be sure it's written by Phillip Pullman. You can't copyright the titles of books. |
