What's wrong with the movie, "The Golden Compass?"?

What's wrong with the movie, "The Golden Compass?"?

It made me sad for all the work that was put into all the special effects for those rushed-through, unexplained, out-of-nowhere but aesthetically beautiful scenes. Too many staccato transitions. The witches, the bears, the icy north, the urchins and their accents, Kidman, the daemons - I had to appreciate them as artistic creations. Never having read the books, given the framework of the film, I simply couldn't appreciate what they were all doing on the screen. And what's with the compass? How did our little heroine read it? Did it have anything to do with the symbols or did she just pick something up from the gears? This movie left me frustrated (not in a good way) and basically emotionally uninvolved

It has no ending, more like a cliffhanger begging for a sequel.

I liked it.
I think what's wrong is ignorant people believing everything they hear without finding out for themselves that they DO NOT KILL GOD IN THIS MOVIE!!!!

And it does have an ending, they wrap things up nicely. The movie is based on a series of books just like Harry Potter is, so you can tell that the story continues.

nothings wrong with that movie! it was fantastic!!

so the director of the movie golden compass is an atheist but church people thinks there are hidden messages in the book and movie idk its ridiculous..

nothing people think its promoting atheism in children

trust me kids wont find the religion in this movie, it was good, more like a fairytale

There wasn't enough exposition about the witches, or what the significance of Dust is. And the bear didn't get enough lines. Other than that, nothing.

nothing. read the book, i'm in the middle of the last book of the three. they are really good. highly recommend them.

Below I have pasted an email that was forwarded to me. I now don't support the movie. Hadn't heard of the movie before the email...

Subject: Important Warning About The Movie
I'm not one to forward every email that comes my way, but every now and then I get one that needs to be passed on....especially when it effects the kids! Be sure to click on the " Snopes " link and read some of the articles.

The Golden Compass
You may already know about this, but I just learned about a kids movie coming out in December starring Nicole Kidman. It's called The Golden Compass, and while it will be a watered down version, it is based on a series of children's books about killing God (It is the anti-Narnia). Please follow this link, and then pass it on. From what I understand, the hope is to get alot of kids to see the movie - which won't seem too bad - and then get the parents t o buy the books for their kids for Christmas.

The quotes from the author sum it all up. The author, Philip Pullman, is an atheist and his objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. He says he wants parents/grandparents to see the movie, buy his books and decide against God and the kingdom of Heaven.

Just because Nicole Kidman is starring in the movie should be NO reason to see his garbage-please pass this message along! http://snopes.com/politics/religion/comp...

the writer is an aethiest, he even admitted that in the LAST BOOK, not the FIRST MOVIE that God dies. because i am a Christian i cannot say whether it is good or bad becuasei refuse to see it. the movie itself may be and probably is good, but the beliefs behind it are not.

It talks about demons and promotes atheism. Killing god, and stuff like that. I know people that don't want to see it, and have walked out. It looks great and im not planning on listing to those abnormal religous freaks. and im a christan too

Good to see some actual reviews as opposed to the ignorant rants I expected. I haven't seen the movie, yet. But I've got to say, KUDOS to those who actually saw the movie and didn't pay attention to the right wing propaganda. By doing so and reporting what you saw, you show them to be the ignorant hypocrites they are!

i guess their saying its alittle anti-religous against catholics but u wouldnt even know that unless u were catholic

It promotes Atheism.

it's based off of a book written by an atheist where kids kill God
