Has anyone heard of this movie? It was either in the late 80s or 90s?

I don't know the name or any of the actors in this movie I just remember watching it as a child so i'm guessing it came out around the late 80s or early 90s.

All I remember is a young boy in his teens wearing a white lab coat and there's an explosion in his room or I'm not very clear on what happened but all of a sudden a young girl appears and she is also in her teens. I can't remember what else happened in the movie, I was about 6 years old when I saw it. The only other thing I remember that might help is at the end of the movie he takes the girl to a train station and she's wearing a pink dress and she gives him a good bye kiss and that's all I remember. I believe it's a sci fi movie and it's not Weird Science. The boy actor kind of looks like the actor Anthony Michael Hall as a teen, but I searched through his movies and none of them are the movie I'm looking for. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about or can give suggestions to what they might think the movie could b

There might have been twin boys in the movie too. Ah I don't know =/ I'm afraid I'll probably never be able to find this movie again ha ha
