Ken Russell- Good Director/Poor Columnist??????????

How pathetic that Britain`s last great genius is reduced to hawking Xmas gear in the column he writes for the `Times`.

A column which I should be writing- have been writing elsewhere- what`s called a roundup- that cross-references genere films from several eras.

Russell`s lastest was on war films and whilst he withered a good British wither about `Saving Private Ryan` because of US marginalising of Britain`s efforts in the D-Day landing, he did applaud some real whoppers such as `Schindler`s List`- a naive support of Aryanism with the Jews as little more than a seedy minority.

`Paths of Glory` and `All Quiet on the Western Front` okay. But what about `A Farewell to Arms` and `The Big Parade`? Or `From Here toEternity` or `The Sorrow and the Pity`? What about `Bridge Over the RiverQuoi`?

So many wars. So many films.

Russell insults with his ignorance.

Ken has always been a bit 'out there'. Michael Winner doesnt do anything these days except say 'Calm down dear' and also writes a column lol
Freddy Forsythe (well know far right neo nazi) also writes a column.
