thanks The Mist is 2 hours long, it has the leading guy from the movie The Punisher. It played at theaters in Maryland between 6PM and 7PM Saturday. The movie is based on a novella written by Stephen King.
Spoiler Alert.
The movie begins with two waterfront homeowners having disputes over trees when they noticed that a big storm came through and damaged both of their properties. Finding some common ground the one guy gives the other a ride to the local grocery store taking his little boy along and part of their discussion is "out of towner's' and the attitude towards the tabloid reports of aliens and secret military activities. During this time there are several cue activities like A LOT of military vehicles passing by going to opposite direction while they chat in the car.
When they reach the store everything seems very normal except for 3 soldiers who were supposed to be going on leave come into the store and about 5 minutes later an MP comes rolling in, telling them that they need to get back to that base ASAP then there is this HUGE quake...right around the same time a very thick pea soup fog follows shortly and an odd calm settles over the store as an old terrified gentleman comes RUNNING into the store, blood all over him saying SHUT THE DOOR there is something in the mist!!! They hurry and close the door but one guy goes running to his car and is attacked before he can get to the car, all the patrons in the store hear are his blood curdling screams and they realize that they are trapped inside.
After a bit of hashing out possible scenarios the hero/punisher guy goes back into the store room to check out some supplies and he smells disgusting stench...along with watching the locked metal bay door buckling inward like there is a creature trying to get in. He goes back to tell the store clerk who gathers a group of maintenance guys and a bag boy who is trying to prove his manhood by being brave. They force the guy to stand by the door to go outside and help clear the vents for their generator which was about to break down at the time. Well the guy tries to stop the young clerk from getting into trouble but as the stupidity of horror movies the kid dosent listen and damn if the alien octopus dosent start ripping the kid to shreds.
This gory part goes on for a good 10 minutes terrifying everyone, its bad enough to make you sick and then they get a bright idea to shut the bay door again. Kudos to them.
They go back into the store to tell everyone how deep in sh it they are and a religious zealot goes bonkers and thinks that she can now SAVE everyone. I know she gets slapped, hit in the head with a can of peas by an old lady and finally shot...but not until she has given up a couple blood sacrifices to god.
Anyway. They try to venture out for meds because they tried to invent fire inside of the building and some people were seriously hurt...the old lady saves their butts by making a flame thrower/torch out of a can of raid...smart chick...and half of the gang make it back but not after experiencing a multitude of freaking other dimensional acid spewing spiders.
They decide to go out again and only 5 make it to the car.
That's when the religious chick gets shot.
They start driving thinking they can clear the mist but they run out of gas and seeing creatures of sky scraper proportion walking across the land are terrified and the man promising his son that he would not let him die by the hands of the creatures ends up being a suicide solution...but the sad thing is that the guy only has 4 bullets and there are five people...so he makes it quick shooting his son first, then the girl that made it out then the two elderly people and gets out of the car wanting to be killed by the creatures out there...but this doesent happen....he hears rumbling....and the mist clears a bit and out of it comes ARMY TANKS and survivors and military guys with big guns and blow torches and they are burning everything in sight but clearly winning...and he drops to his knees screaming insanely as two military men come up to him and witness this...pretty messed up but an awesome cgi action packed horror/thriller. I think the novella was totally represented by the movie. It was awesome. Take Care...one down two more to go.-Rachel. August Rush

and get a life where you don't have to lie-geez! I never had to do that EVER Juno, American Gangster, No Country for Old Men, and I am Legend are all killer movies that are out right now. enchanted
