Mist and Awake?

Without giving any spoilers... does anyone know if the mist in the new movie is:
A. Ghosts or some sort of other restless spirit.
B. Vampires or something similar
C. Magical in nature?

and is the gore and vulgarity more theatrical or does it seem to be there for "shock value" only?

And for the movie Awake- is the guy astral projecting? I couldn't tell from the commercials.

Thanks for anything that can be shared (without giving away too much). I love scary movies, but I try to avoid things with ghosts (including astral projection), magic and vampires as well as movies that are "pointlessly" vulgar and gory. (For example, I hate sitting through something where the "F" word pops up every other word. Did the writer run out of creativity or something lol)

"Astral Projection" is when a persons spirit or consciousness leaves their body. When the person leaves their body they can see and hear what's going on around them (even in other rooms).

I, personally, laughed through all of the Mist, but I'm not a big fan of "scary" movies. My boyfriend made me go.

Anyway, I'm afraid of what to say since you don't want a spoiler, but I can tell you that the way the movie explains the creatures, they are not created by magic nor are they ghosts or vampires.

In fact, althought the presence of the creatures is the basis of the movie, much more of the movie is wrapped around the social reactions created by being in this particular situation created by the existence of the creatues in the mist.
A lot of the movie is very gory. . . some of it necessary, much of it not, I think the social theme of the movie could have been conveyed just as well, and probably more tastefully without the blood and guts, but then it would not have been a shocking horror movie but a "boring" illustration of social psychology.

Eh.

The Mist, they're just aliens from another planet. So no ghost there, but it does have some blood and gore, people being chop in half and stuff.. you get the picture.

In the Awake movie, I don't get what you mean by astral projecting but personally, that movie wasn't good. I only liked to watch Jessica Alba. Lol

I would rate The Mist with an A- and Awake with a C
