I am Legend(Don't read if you haven't seen.)?

If the vampire woman was cured then shouldn't the dog have been cured? I mean because if the cure worked for that vampire girl, shouldn't the cure have worked for the rats and the dog too? Just a thought...

I had the same thought. Yes Sam ( the dog ) wouldve been cured eventually but since it took the rate a day to be cured and the women dark seeker 2 days it probvably wouldve taken the dog a day to get cured. Since he didnt know the girl was going to get better he didnt know the cure would wark on the dog.

No, it wouldnt because remember the rat in the early part of the movie?? Yeah it died...

Perhaps- although there are always mutations between animals that can cause one vaccine to treat one creature while being useless on the other. As well as the fact that it DID cure one of the rats- it could be the woman was simply a lucky test subject. As we saw, the vaccine he developed with the rats that had the 1 out of fifteen or so success rate wasn't the ANSWER, but it had tapped something that would LEAD to the answer. I still don't think that the vial of blood he extracted from the woman was going to have the ENTIRE key and solve the spread and adaptation of the virus, but had the "ingredients" per se to do so. That, and were they vampires or just infected with some CRAZY virus? I was under the impression the movie strayed from the book in terms of the virus spreading from cancer research...maybe I missed a key point of THAT plot. ^_^

When the dog got the virus it was before Neville had realized that his cure had worked for the zombie woman. he killed his dog because he couldnt stand to see it in that mutated wa... he killed sammy right away and did not realize that the cure had worked until anna had saved him... no not until after that when his house was being attacked. When the dog was bitten he had no reason to believe that he was anywhere near finding a cure for the virus and did not want to see his best friend and closest to human companion like all of the viscious mutants.
