Who coined the movie remark "This movie is the Citizen Kane of [genre]"?

I've seen in a lot of reviews before something like this, i.e.: "[This movie is] the Citizen Kane of romantic comedies" or (to quote Nathan Rabin of The Onion on the movie Superbad) "This is the Citizen Kane of dick-joke movies."

But WHO THE HECK FIRST SAID SOMETHING LIKE THIS COMPARING A MOVIE TO CITIZEN KANE?!?? (Sry for yelling, I'm just extremely curious.)

In a lot of cases like this, it's not really a quote you can trace back to someone; it's just a common expression. Comparisons like this are common. For example (taken off Google): "The bridge, often referred to as the "Mona Lisa" of bridges..." or "It's the Hamlet of musical comedy roles."

The point is really just that Kane is (like the Mona Lisa to art or Hamlet to drama) looked at as a paragon in its medium. So it's good for comparisons; even Plan 9 from Outer Space has been referred to as "the Citizen Kane of bad movies."
