Who coined the movie remark "This movie is the Citizen Kane of [genre]"? |
I've seen in a lot of reviews before something like this, i.e.: "[This movie is] the Citizen Kane of romantic comedies" or (to quote Nathan Rabin of The Onion on the movie Superbad) "This is the Citizen Kane of dick-joke movies." In a lot of cases like this, it's not really a quote you can trace back to someone; it's just a common expression. Comparisons like this are common. For example (taken off Google): "The bridge, often referred to as the "Mona Lisa" of bridges..." or "It's the Hamlet of musical comedy roles." |
