Dumbledore?

I just wanted to see if i was the only one who doesnt like the person playing dumbledore in the 2-5 movie

Not real impressed with him (Gambon). I'd hoped that maybe Ian MacKellan would do it but he turned it down.

He's not as good as the original (IMO), but there isn't a lot that can be done when the original actor is now deceased.

Didn't Richard Harris play Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies?

Well, yes, i really liked the first actor better.

When the first Dumbledore died I really hated the new one. I spose I have just gotten used to the new one because he doesn't bother me as much now as he first did. I really think they should have tried to make him look more like the old one rather than so drastically different. but then again the movies have been really bad since the first Dumbledore died also but I think that has nothing to do with the casting the books are just too good to make into movies.

hey, m also a part of the same club... I feel that the actor who plays dumbledore in movies 3-5 does not justify the character as described by rowling in the books. Dumbledore is supposed to be a very patient, polite and full of elegence wizard. He has a very pleasing personality. But the actor in the movie does not potray any of these qualities. Personally i was not happy with the way the movie character of dumbledore is shown. He is kind of rude, harsh and over-exicted. It does not relate to the original dumbledore!

Gotta totally agree with you there. The original actor portrayed Dumbledore perfectly. Did you know he also played Romeo in the original Romeo & Juliet movie? Its just too bad he had to go and die before the Harry Potter movies were finished. The new guy is just terrible.

No, sorry I was wrong. He wasn't Romeo he was King Arthur in Camelot. My bad.

He is in 3-5, and will probably finish the rest.
Ian McKellan wouldn't do the movies because he had just finished portraying Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. He thought it would have been confusing to the kids watching both trying to decide if he was Gandalf in Harry Potter, or Dumbledore in LOTR.
The "other guy" has a name Cara, it's Richard Harris. He didn't just go and die on purpose either.He passed away from Hodgkin's Disease.
I believe they made a wise choise in picking Michael Gambon as the new Dumbledore. It was strange seeing him portray the character when I was used to Harris, but I believe he has done an outstanding job so far, and am looking forward to seeing how he does in the next movie.
Then none of you will have to worry about seeing him again, because he's not in the 7th as a main character.
