Is The Golden Compass worth seeing?

Is it "too girlie" for an 11 year old boy?

Or should we see The Bee Movie instead?

If you have read the books you would know but I seriously don't think an 11 year old boy should see it because if he gets hooked and then the second and third come out the he will see some disgusting stuff like 12 year olds having sex. Worship of the devil and many other disgusting unrighteous stuff. I AM NOT KIDDING!!!

See the Golden Compass it is so much better than the bee movie! See it and no it is not too girly for an 11 year old boy, you will enjoy it!!!

Quite honestly I wouldn't see either of those...sneak into I am Legend! There is a reason why the golden compass is a box office loser...too boring.

FABULOUS BOOK

the third book is...well...boring, so I havn't made it to the end...but there hasnt been ANY direct worship of the devil. ther are religious themes, and for a while in the third book the charcters converse with angels.

no worship of the devil, but there are some satanic characters in it...like REALLY evil

so FAR there hasn't been twelve year olds having sex, I doubt there will be.

My wife and I truly enjoyed the Golden Compass. We can't wait to take our grandsons, 10 and 13. They will eat it up. Don't let all the controversy sway you either.

Based on an interview with Jerry Seinfeld, my take is the Bee Movie is much more controversial, anyway.

I think the Bee movie looks stupid. I saw the Golden Compass with a friend; and we both enjoyed it. Lyra is a tomboy and there is lots of action. My friend jumped out of her seat several times. I think there's lots for an 11-year-old boy. The special effects were awesome. The storyline wasn't quite as good as the book, but it was thrilling the whole time.

They say its better than Harry Potter but believe me its not.......... go for The Bee Movie for an 11 year old.

I think an 11 year old boy would enjoy it. My daughter is a 13 year old tomboy and she liked it. She had read all three of the books in elementary school. I liked the movie and would go see it again. It's not all blood and gore or sex like most movies today are. It is a good set up for the sequels. Maybe, if your son has not read the books, this will inspire him to check them out. :)

Golden Compass is for badasses. Trust me, see it. It's not girly in the slightest. Although it you're not too good at following plots, don't see it, it is very plot-driven.

honestly I couldnt wait to go and see it, it looked like the best film to come out in ageeees, i finally went only to be incredibly disappointed, not only does it have no storyline or a very pointless one at that, but its also incredibly confusing (so your 11 yr old will have no chance), and theres only one decent scene in the entire film when the polar bears fight.. I would strongly advise you not to waste your money, plus they leave it half way through the story so if you care enough about it you have to see the next film there doin..
and the girls really annoying, her accent kept goin from cockney to royal english..

its a film that you either love it or hate it.. and i HATED IT! and so did everybody i knw who even bothered to see it, even hitmans better than this film.

Golden Compass i think that an eleven year old boy would find a bee movie to childish plus golden compass is and adventure story so it would be right up an young boys ally
