Sometimes When We Touch??

I was wondering what the writer of this song is trying to get across. I mean, the first verse he says that when she asks if he loves her, he'd rather hurt her than mislead her, but later he says he just wants to keep holding her.

Does he like this girl or not like her or WHAT?

OH, I just realized I put this in movies. I was sure I put it under music. Anyway...sorry about that.

I don't think it's as simple as "like or not like", but more about the many complexities of love and emotion.

When you really look at the lyrics, you see he speaks of his insecurities, and how he's hesitant to let himself go. He refers to his fear, probably a fear of completely opening up to another person. He also speaks of the rawness, or honesty, of these feelings, how it adds to his confusion. I think that is why he says "I'd rather hurt you honestly, than mislead you with a lie".

I always thought it was that he wanted to be with her but couldn't. (maybe she's married) so he wants her, but has to hold back his feelings for her, can't let himself love her.
