What are some movies with long seamless scenes/takes? |
I can only think of Rope and Children of Men but there must be others. I want movies with long sequences of action or dialogue without any edits. The longest single shot movie is The Russian Ark about a Palace in Russia and the historical events that occured in and around it. The whole movie is one, long editless shot of over 90 minutes. it took 3 attempts to film the entire thing in one take... no editting. It is the longest single shot movie in the history of film. Paris, je t'aime: This is a lame movie (in my opinion) but I believe "The Breakfast Club" had long sequences of dialogue without edits(?) The protector has a 5 minute seamless fight scene. Quentin Tarantino is known for it. Elephant. Lots of that movie are long, continuous shots following a character for 5-10 minutes. It's very odd, but intriguing. The opening scene from "Touch of Evil" is one long unedited scene shot by what had to be a crane that covered a number of blocks. "Good Will Hunting" had several scenes like that ... as did "Before Sunset" and "Before Sunrise" (which were a lot ad libbed as well). I found a website with 15 movies with scenes like this .... children of men has awesome long, uncut shots in it. and on the dvd, there's a documentary about how they did some of them. |
