What Has Happened with the Full Screen Option for Dvds? All I See is Widescreen,is fullscreen gone now? |
I Purchased The Simpsons Movie today and to my surprise it was Widescreen.I personally hate the format of Widescreen and prefer Fullscreen, although i havent seen it anywhere. Is fullscreen still existing and just in certain movies? My Dvd didnt even come with the option to have fullscreen.Until now ive always been able to recieve fullscreen formatted dvds, this just puzzled me. okay here's the story - a film is actually shot in widescreen and is therefore easier to mass produce - in the case of an animated film its because all screens in the cinemas are widescreen - in order to make it fullscreen the cut off each sides of the film and zoom in on the main part of the action - for future reference when buying a dvd it doesn't matter what you buy - on your dvd remote look for the "Zoom" button, hit it a couple of times and it will actually do what those production companies do for money, and will make it into the fullscreen. Hope that helps! I have basically the same question. They often sell two versions, you just have to be careful which one you buy. I don't like widescreen either, the black bars and picture squished to the middle of the screen bug me. It's to promote us to buy a widescreen TV. I hate widescreen and now some TV shows are using widescreen format. Depending on how it's made, when movies are shot it's shot in the format of widescreen it's how all movies are intended to be viewed, people don't realize that widescreen gives you 50% more image to the left and right side of the screen, fullscreen or pan and scan does not offer you this, your really not seeing all of the image. People are too distracted by the "black bars" and think that they're missing something... your not. I remember reading somewhere that widescreen will be the way all images are viewed by 2010 or maybe sooner...and some if not all of the top movie directors will not produce their movies in any other way but widescreen. I know exactly what you mean. I used to work at a movie rental store and no one really wanted wide screen and now that's all that's out there. I think the reason for so much wide screen is the transition into Blu-ray and HD movies for HD TVs. |
