Why is sweeney todd rated r?

I have searched, but cannot find the answer to my question. Does anyone know why Sweeney Todd is rated r, and where I can read this MPAA rating online? Is is just for graphic violence, or is there nudity as well?

Rated R for graphic bloody violence.

It is violence, mostly. You see, it was originally a musical about a barber who killed ppl, sent them down a little shoot in the wall, and they landed in the downstairs neighbor's kitchen, and she cooked them into meat patties and sold them for profit. Now imagine all this, reenacted with Johnny Depp, and without the musical numbers. Now do you see why it's rated r?

Its rated R for all the graphic, extremely bloody violence that is in the movie. It shows people being murdered with a barber's blade. It definitely deserves an R rating. Can't wait to see it.

vh1 just ran a special on the making of the movie. tim burton stated that it has the R rating for violence. I can't wait to see it. It was phenomenal on Broadway.

I think that he kills a lot of people. That usually rates an R rating.
