Are the soldiers in the movie Platoon army or marines?

On the DVD cover, the dog tag says Elias Grodin USMC.

well mc is marines. but i don't remember them saying anything specific in the movie about which armed forces they were in. i think its more likely to be army. do you remember what uniform the recruiter is wearing? if its red or black its marines. wikipedia says army. i think the dog tag was a printing error. it might worth something if they stopped it and printed new corrected ones.

They are members of the US Army. The movie was shot entirely in the Philippines.

If it says USMC then they are Marines! Stand to attention when I'm addressing you Private or I'll make your life HELL!!
