Preferably something under $1,000. Some people might say it all depends on the style of music you want to play.... and they're kind of right. You see, many guitars are stereotyped as being good in a specific genre. What you need to know is that...
If you buy a good quality guitar, you can get whatever sounds you want out of it!
The best jazz sound I ever got was on an Ace Freehly Triple Humbucker Les Paul on a Mesa Boogie amp... Most people would never think of The lead guitarist from KISS would have a guitar capable of that....
You just have to have a good quality guitar. Here are few...
Fender Standard Stratocaster- American Made. They're an industry standard and a great guitar. I've played one for years!
Here's a link:
this is the cheaper Mexican one... although still a great guitar!

Let's put it this way... I've been to the Gibson Factory... If a guitar isn't perfect (no matter what type it is) they toss it!
Remember, whatever guitar you buy... It will only sound as good as the AMP it's being played for. Spend a little less on the guitar for a better amp and you'll be amazed at the difference. The worlds greatest guitar through a horrible amp will sound horrible. The crappiest guitar through the worlds best amp, will sound much better then the aformentioned. What I said about style and guitars is the opposite for amps, in many ways.Different amps have different options. A Fender Deville, Deluxe or Reverb, is going to be great for Blues/Funk/Rock/Jazz a Mesa Boogie... well about anything their pretty versitle and a Marshall has the distortion Rock lovers have come to love.
What you want:
A quality guitar through a quality amp:

By the way... I don't work for Musician's Friend, but I'm a band director who buys a lot of instruments. I find Musicians Friend to be well priced... but I generally just go to their website for product information and pictures... I'll then shop around for the best deal! Sometimes it's MF, sometimes it's not! Gibson Les Paul studio you can get a nice ibanez for just under that price best u can do is to go to a guitar store and play all them and see what feels best to you.. i play esp viper 400 very good for under 1000$ |
