Do you listen to a song you like over and over again, why is this so?

is this a form of OCD ie obsessive compulsive disorder, do many people out there do this, and why, whats the psychology, reasons behind it

no, a lot of people do that. I think it happens because some songs evoke a certain emotion that people react to and enjoy. so they listen to it over and over again to keep that feeling.

these emotions could be the result of serotonin, adrenaline, or other chemicals your brain releases due to outside stimuli.

so, in a way, music is like a drug.

than there are songs that are the opposite and that some people can't stand [:

no, you just like the song....

I think you've got a rather excellent point there,
And for me at least there may be some OCD behind it.

Thanks :)
I love to do that actually with certain songs.

cause u like it

its like drugs
if it makes u feel good
i just play it and play it

but notice theres that day where u no longer get enjoyment out of it

and u move on,

you like the melody and you want to memorize the lyrics

I do it because I like the song and I want to learn the words. Also sometimes the beat is just that good to the point where you're like "I just gotta hear it again!"

maybe it has a good beat or a cool tune

because our mind loves that voice frequency etc

I think I do it simply because I LOVE the song--I don't read too much into it;-)

I don't think it's OCD.
You just listen to it because you like it.
I do that a lot.
I'm still listening to old songs from my favorite singers until now.

I listen to 'Teardrops on my Guitar' over and over. Because it relates to my situation right now.

No, there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you're just really feeling the song, maybe you can relate to it. I know I like songs I can relate to my life.

no i dont have ocd,if i like a song its within my right to listen to it whenever i feel like

Have no idea except yes I play songs over & over depending on how much i like the song.

OCD?

I dont think so.
Many people listen to songs and songs over again so they can memorize the words, the rhythm of the song, etc.

I do that sometimes.
Since the songs so good, I can't stop hearing it. :]

It isn't called OCD, it's called "typical human behavior". We find a song that's gotten overly played on the radio, then we download that song and listen to it over and over again.

you like it. you do what u like.

oh i do,
i listen to a song and i like it its the only song i listen to for like a few days its crazy.

right now its;
right on right now by Powerspace

I listen to the same song over and over again so that I can learn the words.

Or

Just because I like it.

yeah i do when I'm driving . don't think its a ocd thing though!

If I like a song, I'll play it again and again, until I know all the words to it........ at the moment, it's a track on "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse. (Wake Up Alone)

this is because one likes the song. There is a voluntary reason behind this behavior. It's not a disorder.

I think there are some people who can watch a movie over and over again and who can listen to the same song over and over again.

I think the psychological reason behind it is people fantasize about having the same life of someone in a movie or they can relate perfectly to the words in the song.

i always replay songs that i like, just cuz i feel like it.

I do listen to some songs over and over, but I wouldn't say that I suffer from OCD from doing it. I just love listening to the song over and over due to the vocal arrangements, or the words to it.

yes i listen to most songs over and over and my itunes has to be on repeat 1 while im listening because i cant just listen once. but i dont do it to all songs but most .mostly to numb/encore

I do this a lot. I had Golden Brown on repeat for half an hour or so, but simply because it's a damn good song. I don't have OCD either.

Please...it's not OCD, necessarily.
People love repitition in music, stories, etc. It doesn't matter if you're a child or an adult. There is something about all of our brains that derives pleasure from repitition.
Look around your world for patterns. It is the same thing. Occasionally, we grow weary from the same pattern, rhythm, etc., but for the short term, we get hooked easily, thus fads, trends, and phases in our human existences.

I do it to memorize and sing alone again without variation and get immense soul satisfaction of having sung

For me, yes, I believe it is OCD. I listen to a lot of song over and over until I get bored of them. Then once I find a new song, I listen to that over and over.
