I'm tryna set up a home studio and i'm on a tight budget.I'm tryne decide between cakewalk and acid pro.Whats easier to figure out.I'm only 15 and i dont want to use fruity loops.Thanx in advance GARAGE BAND IS FOR LITTLE KIDS. bottom line. its a program made to let people think they are making music. the functions of it are extremely limited. and if you have to buy a mac just to use garage band, you are throwing money away.
I don't have much experience with cakewalk but the experience I do have leads me to beleive that this is a great home recording DAW, editing, mixing, it basically covers it all.
Now I have been using ACID for about 6 years now. So I know more about it. It was originally a tool for making loops and simple edits and such. but with the recent upgrades it has become a fully functional DAW. In fact I haven't found many differences in every day use than some of the bigger named DAWs. Acid has a great user layout, the interface is simple and not too dressed up or hard on the eyes. The thing I think is most effective is the choice of setup at the bottom. You have a main window with tracks and then at the bottom have a smaller 1/3 size window, with several tabs. the tabs allow you to jump to different functions quite easily including, the chopper, editing, setup, plugin settings, you can drag open windows onto it and it docks itself quite nicely. This allows for a much quicker workflow. I hope this helps. I'd recommend buying a Mac and purchasing Garage Band. |
