Can I make Electronic Drums make less noise ? |
My son has Electronic Drums in his bedroom and they are driving me nuts !. Even with the headphones in, the contact noise (when the stick hits the drum) is very loud. The bass peddle is particularly loud. Any ideas on how to silence the drums would be great No smart comments please... I have a roland drum kit and the stick/bass beater impacts can be quite loud. Make sure the drums are on carpet or a rug, [if you can afford a shed then put old carpets on the walls,] make sure he has his door closed, and ensure hes using a felt beater on the bass pedal; most beaters have two sides and the hard plastic one [ideal for rock/thrash etc] is terrible when it hits the pad. just using the felt beater instead cuts the impact noise dramatically and doesnt change what you hear in the headphones. Put a blanket or some old coats over him and the drums when he uses them or hide all the sticks xxx Take them off him................... Send him outside in the cold and make him play there. put egg shells on his walls. or move the drum kit to the roof. Let him do as the big stars do on MTV, go unplugged. Try sound deadening. #1 is to put the kit on a thick underpadded carpet, And try to find cloth or carpet items to pu up on the walls and ceiling. You should notice a big difference doing that. Some try to put cloth (towels) all over the contact surfaces of the drums, but that messes up the sound. This way you both come out ahead. |
