Now I guess he'll "win" the Christmas number one spot solely on the basis that he's been on some kareoke contest on the TV for the past few weeks and not because he has acutally earned the right. Then he'll fade away into the stardom wilderness like Michelle and Gareth...

Gareth didn't win Pop Idol, Will Young did, and he's not done half bad for himself. I hate the fact that there's no longer a competition for the Christmas number one.

The thousands of persons that watched it and spent money voting by phoning in to line the pockets of Simon Cowell and the other judges are the ones who care.

As for number one, yet its possible but he will fade away like all the others to the back of our minds and become a "c" or "b" rated celeb at best so we can look forward to him staring in Ant and Decs "I am a desperate little known celeberity trying to get a ratings boost, get me out of here"

yeah your right buts its the fact that the final is so close to Christmas (good marketing) and the fact all the people in their 20s and 30s are mostly out or are getting ready to go out so lets blame them, and the under 16s and the grannys ( mine do) and any one else who has a telly. Its not even a kareoke comp any more, its a popularity contest and thats down to people ranting on about them and people selling storys in deals with the national newspapers. We get these people forced down our throat so much its almost a pre christmas tradition. Now i got that of my chest im gonna go watch the repeat as missed it last night
