Is 'season' the same as 'year' in TVland?

i always hear actors say their show has been on tv for like 5 seasons, or our show has been running for 7 seasons. is that the same as years? so if they say 5 seasons, they've been on for 5 years? always wondered...

Well a tv show isn't on for a year. They start in Sept or Oct & end in May usually. This is where you get you cliff hanger so you'll tune in NEXT SEASON.

Basicall a tv season is the same as a school yr, 9 mos or so.

Yes, and it generally lasts from September to about may... when you mostly see all new episodes... although there are some that run their series of new episodes during the summer (or sometimes both).

So, yeah, you can just think of a season being a year in a shows series/life
