That's not what the song is about. That is what the movie is about. The only reason it was used is because Simon as suppposed to have 3 songs for the movie and he had only 1. The song was originally about Mrs. Roosevelt, until the director said that they had to use that song. The song is about what is being lost in this new age of new ideas. It was surprisingly conservative for a songwriter of that age. Nah, Mrs. Robinson is an upbeat song. Furthermore, the song is about an older woman showing a(n) younger/underaged guy the "ways of the world". I really do not think that would have been appropriate in a death scene. |
