What was the very FIRST TV show you remember be 鈥渃ontroversial鈥?

And why?

I was young but I do remember Soap1977. The show was controversial for its time, dealing openly with the topics of homosexuality, marital infidelity, impotence, interracial marriage, and gay parenting.Soap was among the earliest American primetime series to include a regular gay character. My parents used to forbid me to watch it, bbut I did anyway.

I Love Lucy.

It was shocking that she appeared on television while pregnant. They didn't even allow the *word* pregnant to be spoken on the air in 1952. The polite phrase was "in a family way".

I suspect that there was controversy about a white chick being married to a hispanic, but I'm not old enough to remember *that*.

Probably Soap! It was a head of its time.....but it was hysterical too and launched the career of Billy Crystal!
