How different is this version of Battlestar Galactica from the old series?

Do you like the new version or the old version?

And why?

Well, for starters in the new version, Apollo is a head strong female not a happy go lucky male character.

It's not as campy, the effects are much better of course (technology has advanced), the story lines are darker and the Cylons are mostly human looking, whereas in the old one, it was the other way around.

I liked both, but I admit the new one is better written and even acted.

The upcoming Fourth season will be the final as well, in case you didn't know. Not because of ratings, but because that was the plan all along. Interesting huh? Report It

Extremely different! The new version is much more serious, much less campy. Definitely like the new version better, but that's just my opinion. ;-)

Okay first off, to BennBJ Bear, it is Starbuck, not Apollo, that was changed from being a male character to a female character.

Now, back to the shows, in the original, Zak was killed during the initial attack on Caprica. He had taken over Starbuck's, played at that time by Dirk Benedict, patrol and was killed whem the cylons started their attack.
In the new one, Zak died during a training accident while he was in flight school where Starbuck, now played by Katie Sackhoff, was both is lover and one of his flight instructors. This leads to a big rift between Adama and Apollo.

There's lots of other differences too: the cylons resemble humans (new), female president (new), etc.

I do like the new ones better though, despite their differences.
