Fed up with 'NEW IMPROVED' products?

dont it just drive you insane all the products which are improved to ridiculous amounts, dish wash tabs with five cleaners in...razors 2/3/4/5blades razors with so many blades that you only need to press it to your face and it shaves the whole lot in one move (maybe I am exaggerating here!but you get my drift)
new blah blah plus...new blah blah double plus...
then when they have gone so far its back to 'Original' blah product and we start over again!!
Sometime you know its good to be happy with a product as it is, I find it annoying that when you have found the right one, bam! they go and improve it? STOP!!!!!!

oh Bless Vimto...yes I s'pose I have LOL LOL thanks!

I totally agree with you ! There's so many products out there that we dont even need nevermind new improved versions. What did humans do before all this crap? We seemed to get on fine.

It's annoying but what annoys me more is that every second product seems to be 'product of the year!' Report It

Blimey, you got one on you today haven't you?

No you haven't gone mad and i do hate it when companies do this because the product then goes up in price and they most likely take the original product off the market until they release it again..

Just money making is all.

Calm down dear its only a commercial

most of the products that are 'new and improved' actually aren't THAT improved. They just want you to spend your money thinking you're getting a better deal.

Although improvement is a good thing in the right way. Otherwise nothing would ever be improved and we'd all be complaining about all the old rubbish that is just not good enough! ;-)

Totally agree, washing powder for instance, they have improved it so many times, it must have been completely rubbish when it first came out!

Yes, it drives me nuts as well, but at the end of the day, the marketing departments are under pressure to prove their worth, and what this kind of thing tends to do is provide a small, unsustainable increase in sales, which soon falls away leaving them having to re-do another 'great improvement', to get another blip, and to show their bosses that they are worth every penny they are (usually over-) paid.

Yes, those commercials are bad, they are also funny. I like those commercials that say it is about time we go back to real food. Then show mayonnaise. What is real about mayo? It is made with ingredients that clog your arteries, destroy your liver and kidneys, but according to the ad people it is 'real' food. Sort of like those Real California Cheese commercials. Has anyone ever seen anyone anywhere selling fake cheese at any time on National TV? And the new and improved cereals for kids, those are the best. You can even alternate those cereals with dog food that is good for your dog, because it is new and improved and the dog will surely get off on the shapes and colors of the dog food, even if it can only see in black and white. And the kids can eat it too! And those razors, what's next the Gilette 90, you to can shave your face to the bone with one swipe of the new and improved 90 blade razor or use it to remove asphalt from the street.

When the producers find sales dipping, they "add" something, so that they can call it new improved.. even if it is only a dispenser.
Don't you just love em?

That's why Tate & Lyle's Golden syrup is so good - same tin, same contents

Well, it's really our fault as consumers. Ever since the Sony walkman, companies have been putting out base products that they keep on improving upon because we buy it. In fact, we buy it even if there's nothing wrong with the product we have. As a former retail store worker, I've seen firsthand how people are always looking for the newest product. At least the razors wait until you've already used up all the blades from your old razor until they come up with a new one. I mean look at Plug-Ins, every other week they're showing up with something else. "Now it's got a surge protector, a fan, and dispenses candy!"

When it says improved it makes me wonder what was wrong with it before, and my mind keeps turning.

Right on, Linda M.

George Carlin once joked about "improved" products, stating if there was something wrong with the product before, and if he was going to die for having used (consumed) the product before they improved it.
