there were so many other shows,

10 points for best answer. Series that stand out for me are ones that still run today.
I'm an original "Star Trek" fan. I still think the original series is the best of all and am happy that I got to meet many of the actors at science fiction conventions. It was the first time that fans stepped in after a cancellation and rescued a series, at least for one more year. Who knew that little cult show would turn into a massive industry?!
"Twilight Zone" is as beloved now as it was then, when it was quite groundbreaking. It tackled some tough subjects and ended up giving us so many memorable moments. Sci Fi Channel tends to start every New Year's Eve with a TZ marathon.
"Gunsmoke" still runs. I have to admit that I don't remember individual episodes, but it entertained the whole family. Most people my age grew up with this series; it was on sooooo long! We went from black & white to color TV with "Gunsmoke" and with "Bonanza".
"I Love Lucy" will remain a favorite. When I was growing up, shows weren't syndicated. We never knew that we would be watching our favorite shows again. I don't even recall reruns being done till sometime in the Sixties perhaps.
The original "Outer Limits" still holds up, and most episodes are better than the new version. I won't belittle that one, though, because some wonderful moments have been created. I do wish the original would be aired more frequently.
Most of our cartoons stay on, including all of the old Warner Brothers ones.
They're not shown now, but I wonder if "Captain Kangaroo" would go over with children. I seem to remember it being a lot of silly, sweet fun that could appeal to little ones.
We were the first of the TV generation, we Baby Boomers of the Fifties. I'm not saying that all of the shows were great, but they certainly rerun many of them, don't they?
Oh! I have to praise "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."! Not all episodes were great, mainly due to lack of funds and scripts toward the end of a season. But, most hold up well. This show and the lesser "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E." are being rerun even now, along with "I Spy" and "Mission: Impossible".
I won't close without mentioning the bizarre and fascinating "The Prisoner", starring creator Patrick McGoohan.
Others I'll praise are "The Avengers", "The Bugaloos" (I loved this silly little program!), "The Invaders", and early episodes of Irwin Allen series such as "Time Tunnel" and "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". Later, those series, as well as "Lost in Space", went downhill. Still, I think the reruns will entertain a lot of people.
I came back to list the following:
The Andy Griffith Show
Make Room for Daddy
Father Knows Best
Leave It to Beaver
Romper Room
Soupy Sales
Beanie & Cecil
Rocky & Bullwinkle Show
Howdy Doodie Show
Daniel Boone
The Rifleman
Sugarfoot
Maverick
and so many more Yeah I loved The Secret World Of Alex Mack! I also lloved the orginal cast of ALL THAT! double dare 2000 and Legends of The Hidden Temple Bravestarr was my favourite, still is. it's repeats nowadays though so it probably doesn't count. neighbours, home and away, the turtles - still watch the new version but older version was alot better. i was wondering when someone would ask this question. i dont watch Boy Meets World that much but ill catch it every now and then and i used to love it when it was on TGIF. Sabrina the teenage witch ill watch sometimes and that was my fav. show growing up. it is still one of my favorites. ive seen every episode of Sabrina quite a few times but still love it. Well, my older kids grew up on some of those shows, so I will be showing my age, but some of the shows I grew up on were:
