What Do You Think?

Even So My Daughters And I Love It

yeah I agree. Guy's leather clad costume as well. It is extremely tongue in cheek and I don't think people should watch it for historical accuracy. Even so it is pretty cool.

Also mariens amazing designer-fitted clothes, nottingham was obviously very advanced for it's age, also, their make up seems to be imbecible! XD

Who cares as long as we get brooding Guy on screen every week I'm happy!

Yes of course - it's gibberish in historical terms, utter gibberish. But it still has a purpoe - it's the same as the Hercules series was, essentially, making old old stories accessible to a modern audience. It's entertainment and it's vaguely educational, just don't be fooled in to thinking it's history.

Yes I do, but I suppose they have to cater for today's young and what they like. I suppose men in green tights would get laughed down and the olde English verily I say etc would get the youngsters turning the TV off. I do think it is important though to give a realistic account (minus blood and gore) to show children what really went on in the dark ages.

It's obviously modern because thats what they tried to do.

They tried to make an old story modern so it will invite young viewers to watch.

P.S. I really like i. Its is just so gooood.

P.P.S. Sometimes it can be a bit obvious what is going to happen next.

They were going for a modern day version, I think if they had stuck to the original story line it wouldn't appeal to the younger audience. I just see it is an enjoyable, easy to watch Saturday evening show, and as long as Guy of Gisbourne keeps peeling off his upper garments then I'II be an happy woman. Although if he started peeling off his lower garments then it would be a completely different show and also be a late Saturday night viewing show as well. Better leave them on and let my imagination run wild!!!!

While I enjoy the modernisation in storyline and the characters, I've got to agree about the background and clothing, it seems to have become a lot more modern the second season compared to (how I remember) the first season. - they probebly got a bigger budget that they invested in making the show look more appealing, rather then in writers.

I don't speak english well enough to form a balanced judgement on the modernety of it - but from what I have seen of old-English, it would be difficult to understand, and very timeconsuming to rewrite/act all the lines in it. (so a waste of time).
If the current 'modern' lines are ment to include reverences to pop culture, they went past me. But I liked the 'blowing in the wind'-line in relation to the cage :-).

I've just asked a simialar question on the politically correct revisionism of this program.

Basically I can deal with the 'modernism' of it, even when it goes completely stupid, things like the casino episode, having chocolate cake about 400 years too early, having a 'modern' wedding, etc etc. It is after all lighthearted family entertainment, so I wouldn't mind that.

Its the politically correct stuff I hate, when they had a Koran reading Robin Hood, a muslim character (female no less, like that would have happened in the middle ages) instead of Friar Tuck, (god forbid they mention christianity), maid marian suddenly donning a superhero disguise and learning a few nifty martial arts moves, the sherriff likening his strict new measures on the populace to modern 'wars on terror' (seriously, check out back episodes if you don't believe me!) which is a blatant BBC left wing liberal stance to the governments policies, these are the things that annoy me. They say they are neutral yet they are blatantly foisting a liberal left wing agenda onto this programme and it has utterly ruined it for me. It could have been a BBC classic, but not now.

Of course it is, but like someone already said, it's tongue-in-cheek. But they had to write it so that it didn't copy 'Robin In Sherwood' in any way, As for one of the answers, that the BBC are making it political, what a load of codswallop. It's meant to be family entertainment, and that's all it is, not to be taken seriously. So, just watch and enjoy. I like it, no matter how ridiculous it is, at least it's watchable unlike a lot of the other stuff the TV companies are chucking at us.
