Howls moving castle..i like this aname.how about you?

what does this story really about can you share? your thoughts?

I also enjoyed it. To me, I see it representing several facets of society in the western culture. Illusions of life; false monsters, unrighteous rulers, dependencies which don't exist. Oversight; missing those who are important, looking past those who care about us, etc. Change; the ability to change our environment, as well as ourselves.

Yea, I like anime too.

i saw this one yes i like it too!!! how well you love cartoons errr how old are you?? i forgot lol..

I loved it. If you liked it, you might want to watch Teenage Godess as well.

I think it is about people needing each other. The two main characters needed each other even though it did not seem as if they did. The "good" witch needed Howl just as the "scarecrow" need to be saved.

Everyone needs someone.

I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki's work.. if this is the first Miyazaki film you've seen, you owe it to yourself to check some of his other films. His "Spirited Away" (2001) is the highest grossing film ever in Japan, and I liked it even better than "Howl's Moving Castle". Here's a link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayao_Miyaz...

I'd also strongly recommend "Princess Mononoke".

Unlike most of Miyazaki's films, "Howl's Moving Castle" was based on a western novel, in the case the book of the same name by Diana Wynn Jones. However, the film is substantially different than the book. For instance, in the film, Howl is caught up in a war, and trying hard not to be involved, due to his pacifist beliefs, which are of course Miyazaki's beliefs. This grew out of Miyazaki's outrage at the USA's invasion of Iraq... this was not a theme in the book.

However, the basic idea of Sophie's dealings with both love and destiny remain. Certainly, after being changed, Sophie actually settles into her new form, and improves in the process... something fairly unusual in the Western experience, where a 90-year-old person would tend to be discarded, and most of us would react in horror to such a transformation. But that's one of the things that make these films compelling... they're so unlike the usual. People can be both good and bad, just like actual people. Villains may also be heros, the wronged (such as Sophie) don't automatically seek revenge, etc.

Like most Miyazaki films, "Howl's Moving Castle" is interesting because it has real human drama within a fantastic story... it's so very unlike much of the big budget Western filmmaking, in which the action or fantasy is as likely as not to be the whole point of the film.

You're not alone in liking this film, either... it was very popular, here and in Japan, it broke records. And it was nominated for an Acadamy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2004.

yeah I agree. Guy's leather clad costume as well. It is extremely tongue in cheek and I don't think people should watch it for historical accuracy. Even so it is pretty cool.
