I just don't understand how these people do this?

If I killed you parent, sibling, spouse or child, and you came to my trial...how could you sit in the same room as me without trying to hurt/kill me? I know that they have baliffs, but if I was a family member of a slain loved one, I wouldn't sit there with that son-of-a-b@#%h without at least GOING AT HIM/HER. Could you?

No, I would not be able to contain myself being even in the same building as my loved one's murderer. I have had loved ones murdered, I miss them very much, they left life long before their time. =(

I'm normally a 'gentle' person, with a great sense of what's right and wrong. But I might agree with you on this one: it would be tough for me to be on the sidelines and not be boiling. And itching to do some harm. I feel for you. Forgiveness in a situation like this is tough. But, for what it's worth, being able to forgive this person demonstrates the magnitude of character that you possess. That's possibly the only way that you're going to deal with this.

I think sorrow would be more important to me than anger. Anger would not help me get over the situation.

The person would be (hopefully) looked after by the courts etc so I wouldn't feel the need to act violently, that would be like saying you are like them or something, which would make the situation even more tragic.
