Do you think there is any truth behind stereotypes?

Yes or No. Why or Why not.

yes there is. political correctness need not be present everywhere.

Um, if there is, than there is so little truth that it doesnt really count. For instance. I have a lot of friends who are blondes. And they are far from stupid. lol

yes. well they had to come from somewhere, and even if they weren't originally true people today certainly try their hardest to live up to them.

Obviously, the steroetype came from some sort of reality. They are just compiled into one being.

but all of us are unique within the stereotype and most people don't care to think about that.

generally, I think that stereotypes are made from a first impression, and those are wrong.

you can catagorized people better into a stereotype after you've got some hard facts about them
it's not cool to do such things, but where would we be without stereotypes anyway?

Yes.... the stereotype had of come from somewhere. It's not like one day someone decided that all cheerleaders were snobby and slutty, enough cheerleaders had of fit that stereotype. Just because 99/100 people of a certain stereotype fit it, doesn't mean they're all like that.

idk. maybe. u can't assume that if one person from a certain race does something then that means that everybody from that race is the same.

Yes. There are people who fit in stereotypes nicely, so there is truth. But I think more people doesn't fit in exactly one.

I think that there is (somewhere, at least), becuasae how else could they get started? The reason they became stereotyopes in hte first place is becuase it can describe a large group of people that peopel can relate to knowing- whether it is hurtful or not.

Think about some of these, and you might recognize someone you know.

Its kinda both because that's how people see you but perhaps not how you see yourself or how you are inside. For example if someone sees you as conceited maybe you do act like that even if you thought you didn't and that you were just explaining to others your accomplishments. Perhaps they see you like that because you worded sentences wrong. Or maybe you weren't trying to be conceited and inside you actually thing low of yourself or think that the accomplishments of others are better. Or if people think your sad and shy but you really are just day dreaming all the time and don't talk to others because you are conceited and think your to good for them. It all depends on how u act and how others *think* you are verses who you think u act like/are inside. {Above scenarios true}

But noone one person COMPLETELY fits one stereyotype even the most snoby person acts spmewhat different even in front of others but the DOMINANT trait and attitude wins you that stereotype.

Yes. I think it is because when people are expected to act a certain way they will. If your black and people expect you to sell drugs and be in a gang and carry a gun then if people are going to think that about you anyway you may as well do it.
