Do you know how to use a dictionary? yes, I'm in college, it'd really suck for me if I didn't know how to. yesh Yep, everytime I don't know a word or something, I pull out the dictionary. Definitely. Everything is listed alphabetically. There are typically markers for the beginning letters, and after that, the words are arranged alphabetically. For example, "apple" comes before "apply", simply because E comes before Y. After you have found the word you were looking for, there is a pronunciation guide, typically a description of the part of speech it is (noun, verb, adjective, etc), sometimes variations of the word and which parts of speech they are, and a definition. |
