Has anyone ever tried to "change" you?

Why must we conform to someone else's ideas of how we should behave?

They tried to change me, but it didn't work. I'm still the same old me.

I think alot of the social norms are a good thing.

For example, talking in movie theaters. You can do it but society frowns upon it and for good reason.

There are alot of good examples where people should conform to society's idea of how someone should behave.

You really shouldn't be asking these types of questions on YA.
You need to pull yourself together, get a job and a decent haircut and cut down on the smoking and drinking.

Yep, all of my exes. I have a hard time finding guys you don't want to change me to their ideal. This is why I swore off dating for a while.

amazingly no. all my friends, say they love me for who i am. i have been told i am a really fun, person, have a great personality, funny, nice, caring, sympathetic, and always know what to say. now why would i want to change? 鈾モ櫏

Yeah, it was weird. An ex boyfriend told me to be "demure". he was soon replaced.

no, but i have tried to change my husband, got after him for years. it finally got through to him when he realized if he didn't sober up i was getting a legal separation. i know i didn't change him, but i gave him a shove in the right direction.
