Dad sells Guitar Hero 3 as punishment...?

for busting his son smoking pot and gets $9100 for it at auction!! Bet that boy will consider his actions a little closer from now on! What do you think?? His dad is a teacher, do you think punishment was too harsh or not harsh enough?? What would you do in same situation??

It wasn't used, it was a brand new one for the Wii system that he spent months finding online!!

I saw that story this morning. I thought it was great. If that happened to me growing up, the punishment would have been 10 times worse. I think it was fitting. Now maybe dad can put that in his kid's college fund and hopefully his son will make it that far :)

It's a good form of punishment. I don't think it was harsh enough though.

I think it was great what he did, his kid knew better... outside his own home smoking..? he deserved it

The kid didn't get the game he wanted and the dad made a nice lump of cash... I think the dad won 2 times there...

More parents should take example from that guy.

lol it's brilliant. I don't think it's gonna make a difference with regards to his son smoking pot though. I think he will just be more careful about where he smokes it.

He should put that money away for his sons education, but not let him know he is yet.

I don't think it was too harsh. But i do think it was disrespectful. Instead of considering his actions next time, he may just become work harder not to get caught because he doesn't respect his Dad any more.

I think he knows how seriously his dad takes it, but I also think it was unChristmas of him.

If you're going to give a gift, give a gift. A token of your love, so to speak. Revoking it in such a public manner kind of screams "I did love you enough to get you this, but now I'm going to sell it and tell the world you were bad." Your token of love just became a brickbat.

well its difficult for me to comment objectively with regard to weed cos i have pretty strong opinions - for me pot is socially acceptable. end of story. this is 2007.

so yes I think his actions were somewhat moronic, but he's probably just misguided and ignorant like most anti-pot people. Maybe his dad will invest the money in his sons future. That would be something of a silver lining I suppose.

A friend of mine's son tried to break into his safe and steal some silver coins ( he didn't succeed) and my buddy sold me his son's Dreamcast and 10 games for $50. It was brand new too!

I think i got the better deal ;p The dad is probably going to buy some weed and smoke it with the $9100 he won, after all, if you remember the commercials the kid always learns how to do bad things from watching his parents lol

I agree with the punishment!! I would've did the same exact thing!! He was probably too big for a spanking, so he found another way to show the kid that wrongdoing won't be tolerated. Loved it!!
