Are you married to someone who has no concept of money?

for example, if you give them $20, it's gone right away on stupid crap. They are always in debt, never saving for the future, doesn't understand why they don't have more money in the bank to buy them stuff when they had bills to pay, always eating out at restaurants, etc.

Sometimes you just want to kick them and ask them what the heck is wrong with them.

How do you deal with them. I know divorce is an option. What are other ways of dealing with these idiots?

If something happened to me tomorrow, my husband wouldn't know what to pay when! I think I will have to share the bills and budget with him.

Keep your own bank account and savings. Also see if you can go to credit counseling as a couple.

I was ALMOST married to one. He had (& still has) a gambling addiction....his car was reposessed once while we were together & to this day he still lives in his grandparents basement at 25 years old. All you can do is drop them & let them make their own mistakes w/out ruining your credit or chances at anything else. You can't do anything to help them or make them see it until they realize their problem on their own & WANT to be helped. Unfortunately, habits like these involving money usually are a learned behavior. My ex's grandparents are also gamble-holics & a coworker of mine is frustrated w/ her husband's spending habits cause of course his parents are just as bad....worse actually.

And yes, divorce IS an option, if it's really bothering you that bad.

No, but I WAS! My first wife admeiited to me she never learned to do laundry before she went off to college, so she ask Daddy for money to buy new clothes with all the time!
She had a really bad habit of spending HER monet on whatever luxury then asking for extra help on the bills.
To deal with that means the person has to SEE the error of their ways and WANT to change.

i resorted to closing our joint account and getting my own. when my husband was drinking he would do all sorts of crazy crap..

No, my wife is a little too excited to spend money but we have plenty saved too.

OK now for your problem, STOP GIVING HIM MONEY

wait, first I should ask.. do both of you work? My wife and I both work and have seperate accounts and she has bills she pays and I have ones I pay.... whatever is left over out of our checks is ours to do what we want with. my wife makes about 1/3 of what I do so the bills are devided that way. We take turns with groceries .......we never have money arguments because it's not an issue.
