Do you call your doctor by his/her first name?

Does your doctor call you by your first name?

If a doctor feels comfortable enough to call me by my first name (which I don't mind at all) I use his/her first name, rather than Dr.

I'm in perfect health myself, but I've stepped in to help friends and family members facing surgery or serious illness.

I've dealt with so many of the "God complex" doctors that I simply cannot anymore allow a doctor to even think that I agree they are superior me or the patient. It just makes my blood boil (long story).

I only have one female doctor and I call her by first name but that's because she's my psychologist and I'm real comfortable with her. I call all my male doctors "doctor," regardless of what they call me. Partially because I like to keep my distance due to bad experiences in the past, and partially out of habit and conditioning that "doctor" is an "authority" figure (until just now that you made me think about it).

Coincidentally, I was going to put up a question about how common it is for doctors to hug their patients, which I'm about to do now :)

No, but I just started going to a new doctor. But I don't like to call them by there first names anyways.

nah. I don't feel comfortable with that. Plus I only know last names in the military. It just happens like that. And I have one civilian doctor that won't call me by my first name. lol. He's funny.

I call mine DR.------ ,that is just being respectful to him.He calls me by my first name and it doesn't bother me in the least.Have a good day.

I call him "Doc",and he call me "Mrs.......".
My gynecologist call me by first name,cause she known me for a while.
