Why is it so hard?

to open a lid from a jar

you need one of those grippy thingys. they make life much easier.

Companies like to make things difficult. It's a curse we all share.

I think air inside the jar causes extra suction and adds extra pressure to the inside of the lid. I'm just guessing, though.

You need to get one of those new JAR LID OPENERS that was made so its easy for old people to open them things haha.

try a Wrench or Vise Grips-much easier-matey.
