Have you ever really stopped and thought? |
...How cold it must have been in that Manger so long ago. Have you eer seen a live Nativity? they are so beautiful. yes whenever i feel so sleepy and dont want to move and get up in the morning for our dawn mass novena, i feel sorry for acting such for years ago the savior was born in a manger and could have shivered because its too cold, and too smelly because its a stable anyway we have a nativity here in our house but its not a live one but it depicts the story of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.....though there are some people who would disagree with this for nobody knows when was the real birth of Jesus but what the heck its your faith that counts and not anyones point of view....brrrrrr its so cold here even if there is no snow in the Philippines still its cold no i havent Yes, but thanks for reminding me today to think about again. Used too. Yes, he must have frozen his tushie. Yes and I bet it was cold but they were so used to living out in the cold so it musn't have been too bad. No I have never seen one, but I can picture it. Beautiful. Wasn't really in the side of a cave? Not a real manger like we think of? I had to draw it once for a church that wanted it done historically correct. It was built in the side of a wall like a lot of buildings in that time period. I can't even imagine how cold it was, might not have even been all that cold. I seen a live Nativity last night the kids at our church had a play and yes it is very beautiful.I am glad my kids got to be a part of it last night. Never thought about that, but it was probably not so cold. Considering they would have been in the middle east and in close proximity to the equator, it would've been more like spring. Also, Jesus' birth was never really said to have taken place on December 25. December 25th is only the date that it's traditionally celebrated in the US, and it comes from the Pagan Yule celebration (see the link below), which is the date the sun is "re-born" as the Earth begins to tilt on it's axis back toward the Tropic of Cancer (also known as the winter solstice). The birth of Jesus was integrated into the Yule celebration in order to convert Pagans and convince them of the similarities between Paganism and Christianity. That's the more-or-less "official" version, anyway. It might not have been all "that" cold at that time and place. I don't really think it was in the dead of winter, because the shepherds were tending their flocks and had baby lambs, and that happened in the spring. It was in the middle east which is warmer there, anyway. I have seen a live on and u r right- it was amazing and beautiful! All u could do is stand and look! I can imagine it must have been extremely cold but hay really is a good insulation. Maybe they knew more than we know!!!! Have a wonderful Christmas! No, I have never seen a live Nativity scene. It probably is touching. |
