Ice takes me back like a time machine, to the bye-gone days of my youth, spent around an icy fishing hole, my dad huddled over it, my friends and I around a tree, having whimsical snowball fights and putting each other's eyes out occaisionally when we'd hide a rock in one and throw it at somebody who hit us in the ear with a snowball. The bastards. We'd end our days in a small cabin, huddling over a stove for warmth and my mother would serve us 'imitation cocoa,' although we knew what the brown liquid truly was. We drank it anyway, it was soothing. Upon finishing our beverage, our parents would tell us the same story every night. Nothing particularly wrong with the story, but since I heard it every night my entire youth, it's engrained in my head... why, mom? why, dad? why didn't you read us something else? why? why? why? why? why? why? why? why? why? ...
