Do you wish?

Do you wish that you had the option to choose a runner up from the answers your questions receive? A second runner up would be worth 8 points and 3rd would get 5. If there were other good answers after that you could give them a star to show you at least thought their answer had merit. I sometimes wish I could when I see a few good answers.

Or, do you think this would devalue the system, and if so, why?

I think this idea is fabulous. It's a wonderful reason to give more points out!
Except the stars, those are covered with thumbs up...
People that dont answer your question at all, too, could also be given an 'Atta-Boy! Thanks for trying, anyway.' It'd be included with the thumbs up/down segment of reviewing one's question.
Example:
Q: ''has anybody seen my coat?''
A: ''Nope.''
Thumbs down.
A: ''Did you leave it in the freezer?''
Upon closer examination, you feel this person is serious. Atta-boy! Thanks for trying!
A: ''Yes, you left it in the car, it warmed up this afternoon.''
Thumbs up, possible best answer.
A: ''I am so great! Everybody do the Kenny!''
Multiple thumbs up, definitive best answer.
A: ''I can't even find my own coat.''
Atta-boy! Thanks for trying!
A: ''Um Idk''
Thumbs down at best.

Maybe- I'm not sure, but I wish the questioner would have an option to comment other answers without having to choose them as best answer.

I think that would actually be an appropiate option too.

good god, I need like a new way to give best answers. There are always too many. I'm so indecisive and Yahoo just proves it to me.

Nope, second place is first loser and deserves nothing but disdain and condemnation. We should never reward those that are mediocre. Strive for excellence!
