I'm not a huge fan of either of these bands...I do still enjoy The Newsboys older stuff (Take Us To Your Leader). Hawk Nelson is ok just not my cup of tea, their lyric content (example)All the girls and the boys

Yeah thats just not doing it for me...I enjoy lyrics with real depth that are thought provoking and clever. If you into pop/punk I would check out Relient K (If you are listening to Hawk Nelson you probably already have but just thought I'd mention them) They are very talented and their music is great...but their lyrics surpass any expectations you might have for a pop/punk band. Matt Theison is a genius. Anyway those are my thoughts not sure if I answered your questiobut I tried. I don't know if you will like but you should check out As Cities Burn's new album "Come Now Sleep" (they are on Solidstate Records which is Tooth n Nails(hawk nelson) sister label) It's a great cd.
