Is A DJ Deck A Musical Instrument?

Just wondering, because in college i need to learn a musical Instrument, and im quite good at DJ decks, thanks :)

lol, i like to think decks ARE a musical instrument, but i dont think the establishment agrees.

At the end of the day, decks still play someone else's music, no matter how skillfully you mix with them.
In this instance, i think theyre looking for instruments in which you can play your own compositions (and no,spinning your own tunes doesnt count!).
