I think the reason why people love this song so much is because the lyrics are so heartfelt and he puts so much dedication into this song that you can tell that he was really in love when he sang this song. It is a great love song. It is also innovative. It was very soulful because the singer supposedly cried during the recording of the song. Plus it is raw plus the lyrics seem to random like it was coming straight from his mouth. He put all of his emotions in that song.

Plus he used the three magic words I- Love - You

The vocal riffs and so on was very original no other soul singer has done that until him.
