What is it with hip hop and pop artists putting their names in their songs?

Because a name like "Iron and Wine" is ridiculous when only one person performs...

they want to make sure the listener knows who they are listening to

I think it's their way to express announcement that, "Hey, this cool music is mine! And you're listening to me! ME!" ;)

Because they are egomaniacs

Its all a marketing strategy to get a artist name out there. We even have rappers and artist spelling their name now!!

Do you really think we would remember thier names if they didn't. Ha,ha Yeah after the 50th time I want 2 slap MIKE JONES in his mouth but, I give him mad marketing props. I remember his name don't I.
