What music family(string,brass,ect.)is the shaker in?

Percussion.

i think its in the percussion family, but im not so sure of what u mean. Maracas? I've never heard of a shaker. but by the sound of it, I think that shaking doesn't include a mouthpiece, reed, or strings to play.
