How many o you listen to your soul and reggae on vinyl still? |
Or do you listen on c.d or mp3? As a dj i have to use all formats, including tape.Vinyl is my prefered choice cos cd and digital media doesnt sound as warm or rounded as a record.Bass response on tape is good but they degrade easy,mp3 sounds terrible for reggae( the drum and bass sounds weedy.Plus vinyl is the only way to get a lot of my tunes Mp3 but I only listen to Reggae, out of the choices nope. don't listen to that kind of music anyway. Have loads of Vinyl LP's and singles. Its a bit of an effort to set up record player etc so usually end up bunging a cd on x (Showing my age now)!!! Listen to all formats at home, but if I'm at a do it's gotta be vinyl. I'm into 60's Soul/Northern Soul and I want to hear that what I'm listening to is 40 years old, not digitally remastered. My music is from backstreet recording studios, done on a shoestring budget filled with the soul and emotion of the performers. You can only truely get the imperfections that make it unique with vinyl. still, all from back water studios Trojan + silly named indies, ska roots etc, from days when i was deejaying in early seventies notting hill etc lost my copy AL Capone , prince buster can't find another, transferring all to my computer but keeping original vinyl in storage as for soul all original tamla, stax, Atlantic on vinyl and on digital, but trying to get a stylus is getting more difficult |
