How do you build a point contact dialer like they did in WW2 bunkers to receive radio transmisions?

They also built one on mythbusters in the penny drop episode

When I was about 13... (47 yrs ago).....my father bought me a build it yourself radio kit from Heathkit. it had a contact dialer...a bunch of tubes and a rudimentary antenna that was attached to the radiator in my room....Darn thing actually worked..only received AM stations (no FM back then)

I have no idea if Heathkit or any other company still makes those old time kits. Tubes aren't easy to come by nowadays.
