Does Sammy Hagar own or partially own KSHE radio in St. Louis?

If he doesn't, then how could you possibly explain how he gets so much of his music played on the KSHE?

I travel all over the country and listen to the radio in many major markets... and NO ONE plays Sammy Hagar anymore.

How could one explain this, other than him owning the airwaves.. literally.????

Well, you have to know St. Louis and especially KSHE. KSHE is owned by Emmis Communications, a public company. So though he may be a stockholder, he's not THE owner.

KSHE has been around for many years. STL is a real rock 'n roll town and Sammy has always been a friend of the station and recorded the DVD - "Livin' it up St. Louis" at his concert there (no doubt "presented" by KSHE).

When I worked at KSHE in '85-87 our big promotion was the 20th anniversary - so do the math.

I agree with Duh about the ownership issue

But here are some facts....

Sammy Has had some hits and I find some PDs and MDs do have a tendency to favor certain artists meaning they get played more often sometimes.

But in St. Louis, the big thing is Sammy is supposed to be building a CAbo Wabo Cantina in St. Louis and is supposedly the biggest selling artist of concert tickets in St. Louis history

..meaning he's a very popular person in town..hince his music gets played more often.

Also I wished yes.com would still allow for artist listings showing all the stations a artist has been played on, but between his Montrose years, his solo years, and the VH days he's heard all around the US and Canada still So I wouldn't say no one was playing Sammy Hagar anymore (I know where I am in the south he's still played with "Only one way to rock" and "I can't drive 55" being the two most played songs on classic rock and heritage rock radio

he doesnt own the airwaves, radio stations just get a gimmick and run w/ it. Hagar draws a crowd, which is what radio lives for. (A lot of classic rock / jack stations play tons of him). When i worked for a competetor a few years back in St Louis, they were trying to find someone at hagar's level to be the informal spokesperson for them to draw in different demographics. Also, I agree that the Cabo Wabo has alot to do w/ it these days. And that he's buddies w/ the PD's there. A little publicity never hurt anyone.
