Playing music over a ham radio?

ok can some one leagly play music over a ham radio with out paying the artist for playing the song over the radio

Nope, although that seems like a really tight rule to me. Actually, you're not supposed to play music on amateur radio at all, if I remember right.

I welcome someoene who hams more than I do (keeping up on the craft) to correct me if I'm wrong, though.

I don't know why somoene would want to pretend like their ham radio was a regular station, anyway, but then I also don't know how strictly PICKY the authorities are if they catch music just happening to play in the background while someone's "hamming it up."

(I haven't hammed for a while...)

EDIT:

Noah Boddy: No, that isn't a "copy write" infringement, it's a copyRIGHT (the legal RIGHT to copy) infringement.

no, that would be a copy write infringement.

You cannot play ANY music over a ham (Amateur) radio legally at all. Nor may you broadcast.

The Amateur bands are pretty much self-policed and trust me, other hams do not take intrusions into their bands lightly.

A word to the wise...should be sufficient.

you can not broadcast music over the ham bands

No , if you had actually passed your ham test you would know that it is illegal to play music on the ham bands.

It is forbidden on Amateur radio to play any kind of music..even stuff you have written.... As music over ham radio is considered broadcasting and the FCC back years ago added the language to keep ham stations from turning overnight into radio stations (as many did in the 1920s)

The only rule allowing any form of music , is if the Amateur station is rebroadcasting the Space shuttle and NASA sends the wake up song to the shuttle to wake the crew up and it's broadcast over ham radio...

The transmission of music is prohibited on all ham frequencies.
